I’m Dr. Rebecca Chadwick—a science communicator, storyteller, and founder of Circus Lab. With a PhD in Materials Science, a BSc in Biochemistry and a Foundation in Art & Design specialising in print, fashion, and textiles, my work weaves together biology, materials, and creativity to make science tangible and inspiring.
Whether I’m exploring the future of fabrics, revealing the physics behind juggling, or helping people of all ages uncover the scientific principles that are at work in everyday life, I believe science should spark curiosity, ignite wonder, and be accessible to everyone.

Presenter
I’ve worked across a wide range of science communication projects that blend research, creativity, and hands-on engagement.
As a Science Writer…
I authored a 50-page educational booklet based on my PhD research on polymer nanocomposites. Developed in collaboration with AccessEd and HeppSY+, the booklet was aligned with the GCSE Chemistry national curriculum and designed to make cutting-edge science accessible to secondary school students.
Right now, as part of the 2025 Science Write cohort, I’m writing a narrative nonfiction book exploring the hidden science of textiles. This is a book blending material science, history, and storytelling to uncover the fabrics that shape our world.
As a Workshop Facilitator & Public Engagement Specialist…
I regularly deliver engaging, hands-on science workshops for children, families, and schools. My experience includes being a British Science Week Ambassador at Explore!, facilitating activities with Hands-on Science, and leading full-day challenge events on disease and medicine in partnership with Cambridge Science Centre.
I am also the founder of Circus Lab, which delivers unforgettable, hands-on science workshops that use circus skills to make scientific concepts come alive for 7 to 14 year olds.
Film & Media Production
I was an assistant producer for Meeting My Role Models: An Insight into Imposter Syndrome. This is a short science communication film that explores self-doubt in STEM through personal storytelling and expert insight.
